We are seeking an experienced Metallurgy Superintendent to join our flagship mine site in Mali. The purpose of this role is to lead and provide metallurgical operational leadership to the Syama sulphide and oxide process plants to ensure that the plants are operated to the appropriate metallurgical parameters to maximise productivity.
In this critical role you will also ensure that appropriate metallurgical data is collected, verified, analysed and variances promptly addressed to deliver performance driven solutions that optimise and continuously improve throughput, gold recovery and roaster performance so that the oxide and sulphide ore treatment plants meet or exceed budget in terms of these key performance indicators whilst minimising the cost per tonne and cost per ounce targets. It is expected that you will also provide leadership in meeting health, safety, regulatory and environmental compliance expectations.
Accountabilities:
- Collecting, analysing and interpreting metallurgical data to provide the ore blend and process plant operating parameters that enable effective decision making at all levels to ensure that as a minimum, production performance expectations are attained in-line with budget;
- Optimisation of reagent and grinding media;
- Providing metallurgical training to plant metallurgists, supervisors and operators to improve effectiveness in their roles;
- Providing continuous improvement focus through rigorous data analysis and provision of recommendation inputs to improvement projects throughout the plants;
- Identifying process control system deficiencies. This includes use of automatic control, instrumentation and smart logic;
- Sets and tracks metallurgical plans to meet monthly, quarterly and annual targets for gold recovery;
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting of Processing’s performance daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly, with appropriate distribution to the management team;
- Ensures that appropriate metallurgical support is provided to tailings operations, and
- Ensure and maintain Processing operation complies with prevailing Environmental standards and commitments.
To be considered you will need to demonstrate the following:
- A formal degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering;
- 10 years’ experience at a level of at least Senior plant metallurgist;
- Experience in mineral beneficiation, flotation, CIL and ideally sulphide ore roasting;
- Experience with working with a range of reagents such as cyanide, lime, hydrogen peroxide and flotation reagents;
- Working on remote mine sites;
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead technical teams, and
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer skills.
French language skills will be viewed favourably.
